How much lead time do you need?
It’s always best to order as soon as you know you need something! Cake orders need to be finalized and paid for 3 days in advance. Cupcake orders only need to be finalized and paid for 1 day in advance. Need it sooner? Give us a call and we’ll do our best!
Our schedule is often booked 7-14 days in advance, so we highly recommend getting your order placed with payment as early as possible. We do hit our limit some weeks and cannot take orders past that limit due to the quality of work we strive to place into each order. If you have inquired about an order but have not paid to secure your date by the time our weekly limit is reached we will not be able to add your order to our schedule at that point.
Do you have any minimums for Orders?
When ordering cupcakes our minimum order quantities are 12 mini cupcakes or 6 medium cupcakes.
When ordering special flavors the minimum order PER FLAVOR requirements are 12 mini cupcakes, 6 medium cupcakes, or 6 jumbo cupcakes.
Is it possible to request custom cakes?
Submit your request through the Order Tab above and our team will reach out and let you know how we can recreate it! If you have not heard back within 2 business days or need a very quick turnaround, please call us at 402.934.3844.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, card, and Apple Pay in store. Cards can be taken over the phone at 402.934.3844 during normal business hours as well. Invoices available upon request.
What is your Cancellation Policy?
Due to production schedules, any cake order cancelled 4 calendar days or less before the scheduled pickup date cannot be refunded. Any cupcake order cancelled 2 calendar days or less before the scheduled date cannot be refunded. The payment is transferable to another event within one (1) calendar year of our receipt of your payment or can be issued in form of in-store credit via SmallCakes gift certificate.
What is your Refund Policy?
While we make every effort to provide exactly the flavors, fillings, decorations, sizes, shapes and colors you have requested, the creation of a cake is an art and may be subject to slight variations and/or errors by the creator(s).
If we fail to provide the correct flavor, filling, or quantity of products you will be refunded for just the portion of your order that was incorrect. Photo evidence is required to guarantee a refund. Example: you ordered a lemon cake filled with strawberry filling, but when you cut into it for your event you found only an unfilled lemon cake. You would be refunded the filling upcharge only.
Color matching is subject to lighting, screen display/resolution and products used, and will not be accepted as a reason for refunding any part of an order. To have the best result for color matching please provide a physical swatch for us to match.
When picking up your order you take full responsibility for the safe transportation of your products. You will not be refunded for products that did not survive transportation.
If you are at all dissatisfied with your order, we must be notified at pickup PRIOR TO YOU TAKING THE PRODUCT OUT THE DOOR. Due to our goods being perishable by nature we cannot accept returns. Any reasonable requested adjustments will be made as quickly as our team can and to the best of their ability.
PICKING UP AND TAKING YOUR ORDER INDICATES SATISFACTION AND APPROVAL OF ALL PRODUCTS AS IS.
Is your kitchen peanut and tree nut free?
We bake and decorate with peanut butter on a regular basis and use pecans daily. While we do maintain safe practices to prevent cross-contamination, the risk is still there. We leave it up to each customer to determine their comfort level. Please call us at 402.934.3844 if you have specific questions.
How do you prepare your Allergen Friendly Items?
We bake all allergen-friendly items (gluten free, dairy free, vegan, egg free) separately from other products. Items are made in the same kitchen using cleaned and sanitized utensils following all safety protocols to prevent cross contamination. Please call us at 402.934.3844 with any questions.
Can you make any flavors Sugar FREE?
Due to the multitude of flavors, we can only offer Low-Sugar for most cupcake/cake flavors. At this time we can make vanilla and wedding flavors sugar-free, with white buttercream.
Can you accommadate any other Allergies?
Call us to see how we can accommodate your allergy! The only allergy we cannot accommodate is soy.
Do you deliver and setup for weddings?
SmallCakes can deliver and setup your wedding cake(s), cupcakes, and cake pops to your reception venue. One less thing for you to think about on your Big Day! Ask for a delivery quote during your wedding tasting consultation.

What if I run late for my pickup?
If you are running behind for your pickup window, just give us a call at 402.934.3844 to let us know when to expect you!
Can I send someone else to pickup my order?
So long as the individual coming know what they are picking up and whose name it is under, you can send someone else. Please know when an order has been picked up this is considered to be accepted as is, and cannot be brought back to the store for sanitary reasons. Have the individual send a photo to you before leaving the store to ensure your order turned out just how you pictured!
What is the best way to transport my order?
Important instructions for preparing your car and transporting your order:
- Generally, your item(s) will be packaged in a sealed box to protect them from dust, rain or foreign objects (except for extremely large or gravity defying cakes that may not fit packaging)
- The best way to transport your order is in the back of a van, station wagon or SUV. If none of these options are available, it is possible to transport smaller sized cakes or cupcake boxes in the floorboard of a car, however this is a last resort due to the potential for damage.
- Under NO circumstances should an order be transported on a vehicle seat. (It is also highly discouraged to transport it on someone’s knee/lap)
- Please prepare the vehicle’s back before picking up your order by clearing out loose objects and vacuuming/shaking out debris.
- On warm days, it is imperative that your vehicle have a working cooling unit (air conditioning). Please run it before your pick up until your car’s interior is cool. Frostings and chocolate decor can wilt or even melt if put near a heating unit or inside a warm car.
- Allowing pets to be in the car during order transport is strongly discouraged.
- The driver must take extreme caution, always keeping the vehicle level, especially when turning corners, and must avoid any sudden acceleration, cornering or aggressive braking.
- Please adhere to the agreed-upon pick up time.
- Upon arrival at the event venue, be sure to set up the item(s) in a cool display area away from sunlight (and away from anywhere sunlight might move to) without delay
Pickup Liability
When opting to pick up your wedding or specialty order instead of having it delivered you understand that transporting this requires all of the pre-arrangements listed under Order Pickup Instructions above, and you agree to prepare your vehicle in advance accordingly.
You acknowledge that once you have picked up your order, SmallCakes cannot be held liable for any damage or failure that may occur once the item(s) leave the doorframe of our store or during transport, handling, set up or display. Once you have the item(s), it is your responsibility to transport it directly to the event venue and not leave it unattended in your vehicle or anywhere outside.
How do I apply to Work at SmallCakes?
Want to work at SmallCakes? If you are age 16 or older stop in store for an application, or email hr@smallcakesomaha.com with your resume (and portfolio if applying for a decorator position).
Is your shop kid friendly?
We love having customers of all ages! Every Tuesday we call Toddler Tuesday. When shopping in store, if the adult purchases a jumbo cupcake all toddlers with them receive a free mini cupcake!
My event is on Sunday, Can I pick up Saturday?
We have had many customers pickup orders on Saturday for Sunday parties. Keep cakes and cupcakes in the fridge overnight. Cake pops and other chocolate dipped items should be kept at room temperature to prevent cracking.
